University of Arizona senior Julia Rabban, 21, who is an already experienced rider, lunges "Cal" at the equine center during the Introduction to Horsemanship class. Lunging, which is walking, trotting or cantering a horse in a circle, helps teach horses certain commands and prepares them before they are ridden.
