I once had a student who claimed he was never told that he had to take a statistics course.
He was graduating in a couple of months, had invited his family to attend the commencement, and he was asking me to waive his stat course.
Once I reviewed his file, I found out that he had signed up for statistics and dropped it. He did it four times, each time dropping the course during the first week of classes.
