The Catalina Trojans beat Tuba City in the semifinals of the Division III girls state volleyball tournament Saturday afternoon in Prescott Valley and then had to wait.

The second-seeded Trojans battled Chandler Seton Catholic in the title match, set for 8 p.m.

However, the 6 p.m., Division IV title match between Phoenix Northwest Christian and Thatcher went five sets and didn't end until after 8:30.

As a result, the Trojans were forced to wait around to play the top-seeded Sentinels.

Results of the championship match were not available as of press time.

In the semifinals, Catalina outlasted No. 6 Tuba City in four sets.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19.

The win over Tuba City lifted Catalina to 20-0 heading into the championship match.

Seton Catholic (21-0) got to the finals by beating No. 5 Lakeside Blue Ridge in straight sets. The Sentinels haven't dropped a set so far in the state tournament.

Thatcher, the top seed, lost the Division IV title match to Northwest Christian in five sets.

Catalina was the lone Southern Arizona team to make it past the quarterfinals in the state's top three divisions.
