GLENDALE - Mike Lee fought through frustration and then cramps to give Catalina Foothills its second title of the day at the state tournament.

Lee, a No. 2 seed, completed a 6-7 (7-2), 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) win over top-seeded Alex Bose on Saturday to capture the Division II boys singles title, scoring the last three points of the final-set tiebreaker while hobbling on his cramping leg.

"After I lost that first set, I was really, really mad at myself, I was really hot, from the heat and everything," Lee said after the three-hour match at Paseo Racquet Center.

The cramp got the better of him in the third set while he was leading 3-2. The boys sat for 12 minutes before continuing.

"I was just trying to outlast him," Lee said. "I was seeing that he was kind of hurting so I was just trying to make it back."

The other Catalina Foothills winner was the team of Rachana and Kirtana Bhat, who successfully defended their doubles title. The top seeds beat Ironwood Ridge's Kelsey Brown and Marissa Baca 6-2, 6-4.

"I just wanted this more than anything," Kirtana Bhat said through tears. "To get it two years in a row. We knew what was coming, we just set our minds to try our best, stay steady, play every point and focus on every single one."

Ironwood Ridge's Sara Brown, the top seed in Division II singles, blanked No. 3 Cristina Oropeza of Nogales 6-0, 6-0 for the title.

The No. 1 boys doubles team of Cody Petford and Adam Knox of Ironwood Ridge led after one set but fell to second-seeded Luke Carstens and Adrian Cordova of Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
