The Arizona Wildcats have hired Eric Hansen, a former UA assistant and later a Big Ten Coach of the Year, to follow Frank Busch as their swimming and diving coach.

Hansen leaves Wisconsin after 12 seasons having finished in the top 20 on 10 occasions at the NCAA Championships. Fifty-six of his swimmers and divers received some form of All-America honor.

Hansen will coach the U.S. National team at the World University Games in China this summer. The Sioux City, Iowa, swam for the team from 1987-92.

The Iowa State graduate swam for Hillenbrand Aquatics, now Ford Aquatics, and earned a Master's in physiology from the UA in 1990.

He replaces Busch, who will take over the USA Swimming program after winning two national titles and six NCAA Coach of the Year honors in 22 seasons.
