Arizona Wildcats pitcher Kenzie Fowler allowed only nine hits in 21 scoreless innings last week, earning Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week honors today.
The freshman struck out 33 and walked only three during that span to become the first non-senior to win the award this year.
The USA Today/NFCA poll listed the Wildcats second again. First-place Washington received all 30 first-place votes.
The Wildcats stayed ranked No. 2 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll released today, though they picked up one of the 25 first-place votes.
Both the Wildcats and Huskies are 22-1. UW has won 17-straight, while the Wildcats have won 15 in a row.
