Chelsea Goodacre's clutch hit helped Arizona avoid a winless day at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Thursday in Palm Springs, Calif.
Goodacre's two-run, two-out double in the top of the seventh gave the No. 19-ranked Wildcats a 4-3 win over Long Beach State.
UA (9-3) lost 5-0 to No. 1 Oklahoma earlier in the day.
UA trailed 3-1 heading into the seventh against LBSU before scoring three runs in the top of the frame to take the lead. Goodacre's hit came with the bases loaded and the Wildcats down 3-2.
Nancy Bowling (2-0) picked up the win, tossing two perfect innings. Starter Shelby Babcock allowed three runs in five innings.
The 49ers chased Babcock from the game in the sixth, when they scored twice to take a 3-1 lead.
Michelle Gascoigne threw a three-hitter in the Sooners' win in the first game. She struck out 12 in improving to 6-0.
Estela Piñon (3-1) took the loss, allowing two runs in four innings. Kelsey Rodriguez had a triple and single for Arizona.
Oklahoma eliminated UA in each of the past two super regionals.
Arizona plays two more games today - against Ohio State at 7 p.m. and Loyola Marymount at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, the Wildcats wrap up Classic play with a 6 p.m. game against LSU.
