Nancy Bowling didn’t know she was doing anything wrong.

At Royal High Scholl in Simi Valley, Calif., there was no reason to think she was.

The 5-foot-8 pitcher posted a 0.43 ERA and a 25-3 record as a senior, and was named the nation’s No. 7 recruit by ESPN before coming to Tucson.

In individual workouts the past month, Arizona Wildcats coaches found a glitch in her delivery.

Bowling cupped her hand when she brought her right arm back, allowing hitters to see the ball — and perhaps what pitch she planned on throwing.

Bowling laughs now when talking about it.

“(Pitching coach Alicia) Hollowell is helping me break down my pitching,” Bowling said. “Changing and adjusting things I never noticed before.

“Now it feels like I shoulda be doing it all along.”
