Seattle Sounders FC and Mexican club Veracruz drew 0-0 Friday night in a friendly at Kino Sports Complex North Field No. 5.
With a standing-room- only crowd of 1,200 watching, both teams had quite a few chances in both halves.
The Sounders came closest to a goal in the first half when a shot by U.S. international Eddie Johnson hit the post and rolled along the goal line before a Veracruz defender cleared it away in the eighth minute.
Veracruz had an excellent chance to pull out a late winner when Pablo Torres had a flashing header that forced goalkeeper Michael Gspurning to make a leaping save in the 78th minute.
