After spending the past six seasons in Germany, Sierra Vista Buena High School graduate Luis Robles joined Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls on Wednesday.

Robles was claimed in the MLS Allocation Process after playing 28 games the past two seasons at Karlsruher SC, a second-division German league team.

He played 20 games for FC Kaiserslautern in the 2008-09 season.

The 28-year-old was born near Fort Huachuca and played for Tucson Soccer Academy.

The University of Portland graduate has earned one international cap - in 2009 as a member of U.S. men's national team.

"Luis is a goalkeeper who we have been interested in for the past year, and we are excited that he has joined our squad," Red Bulls general manager and sporting director Erik Soler said in a statement.

"We think that he has potential, and we are eager to evaluate him in person on a daily basis at our club."
