Arizona's Lawi Lalang set a school record in the 1,500 over the weekend at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

The sophomore ran 3 minutes 36.77 seconds, a personal record and the top college time in the nation this year. He placed fourth overall in the race and was one of two collegians entered.

Lalang now owns four UA records: three indoor (mile, 3,000, 5,000) and one outdoor (1,500 meters).

Arizona's previous record of 3:39.1 was set by John Quade on Aug. 6, 1989.
