Tiger Woods announced on his website this morning that he will play in next week's WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship at the Golf Club at Dove Mountain.
It will be his first tournament since winning the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego last month.
It's the third straight year Woods has participated in Match Play. He lost to Nick Watney in the second round last year after being eliminated in the first round in 2011.
Woods has won the event in 2003, 2004 and 2008, and was the runner-up in 2000. He has played in a record 40 matches at Match Play, winning 32. His 82 percent winning percentage is best among all golfers to play in the event.
Sixty two of the world's top-64 golfers are expected to compete in the tournament; Phil Mickelson, ranked No. 10 in the world, has announced he will skip the tournament to spend time with his family. Also Tuesday, Brandt Snedeker, the tournament's No. 4 overall seed, withdrew because of an injury to his side. Fredrik Jacobson will move from No. 66 to No. 64 if Snedeker is indeed unable to play.
Golfers have until Friday to formally commit.
Match Play competition begins Wednesday with 32 single-elimination matches.
