At Santa Rita, the Titans (5-1) jumped out to an early 21-0 lead on the Eagles (3-3) and never looked back. Palo Verde was led by Joe Lewis and a balanced rushing attack that gained 318 yards, while holding the Eagles to just 23 yards on the ground.

•Highlight reel: Palo Verde’s Lewis dashed through a hole for a 36-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.

• Player of the game: Palo Verde quarterback/defensive back Danny Hunt. Hunt ran for a touchdown and threw for one. The senior also had an interception.

• By the numbers: 20. Santa Rita scored all 20 of its points in the fourth quarter to make the game interesting.

• He said it: “Nobody outside of this program thought we would be in first place after six games.” — Palo Verde coach Todd Mayfield.
