Over the next six days, we will feature our picks of Southern Arizona's top preseason high school football players.

Our countdown continues with Cienega's Christian Poe, the younger brother of former Bobcat Edgar Poe who now plays for Army.

Christian Poe

• The rundown: Christian Poe, WR/LB, 6-4, 175, Cienega, senior

• Who he is: A physically gifted athlete who should bring size and speed to both sides of the ball. Last season, Poe didn't get the chance to prove himself on offense, playing only at linebacker. But with last year's seniors gone, it's time for Poe to step in and contribute. He had 28 tackles last year at linebacker and didn't see a single pass as a receiver. This year should be a different story, though, as coach Nemer Hassey said he expects Poe to be a threat in the passing game. Because of this, Poe said he worked hard over the offseason to improve his receiver skills while also fine tuning his linebacking play. Hassey said Poe is "a super athlete" and has a great head on his shoulders.

• Proof he's good: His lineage. Christian is the younger brother of Edgar Poe, a standout receiver who graduated in 2012 and now plays at Army. Christian's frame and athleticism gives him the potential to have success similar to the lofty levels of Edgar. Christian said that in addition to his size and speed, he has a "wide variety" of skills on offense and can "put a move on a defender" if he needs to. Christian has already lived up to his brother in one way, receiving a full scholarship offer from Army.

• He said it: "That's what I've been working toward since I've been in this program - to start both ways on varsity. So to get that opportunity, it's a real honor. I've got to make sure I hold up my end of the bargain and make sure I perform on the field." - Poe.
