Wide receiver Juron Criner is working out on campus and is expected to join the Arizona Wildcats when they open training camp Aug. 4, coach Mike Stoops told the Star on Monday.

Criner missed a scheduled trip to ESPN's Bristol, Conn., headquarters in June, citing personal and family troubles. UA officials had since been tight-lipped about Criner's status.

Monday, however, Stoops said Criner is "fine" and "here and ready to go."

"We anticipate having Juron," he said. "He had some family issues that were concerning over the summer, and those are personal. We anticipate him being the same player - or a better player - than he was a year ago."

Criner is expected to be one of the Pac-12 Conference's top playmakers as a senior. The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound Criner has caught 134 passes for 1,903 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career. Last week, Criner was named a preseason candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's top wide receiver.
