Blake Martinez will find a seat in Section 114 of University of Phoenix Stadium tonight, put his feet up and watch his future turn to present. Yes, it’ll be weird.

Six months and one day after verbally committing to Stanford, the Canyon del Oro High School football star will watch his future team play in his home state.

Many experts view Monday night’s Fiesta Bowl game between third-ranked Oklahoma State and fourth-ranked Stanford as the best game of the year and an indictment of the Bowl Championship Series system.

Martinez sees it more simply. The game marks a final chance to watch his new team as a fan before he hits the college ranks. The 6-foot-2-inch, 235-pound linebacker/fullback will enroll this summer.
