Namon Wright, a Top 75 wing from the class of 2014 from Los Angeles, tweeted today that Arizona has offered him a scholarship.
Wright's tweets are protected but Scout's Josh Gershon quoted his words in this tweet:
2014 Pacific Hills SG Namon Wright. RT @kharyw Yessir! University of Arizona just offered!!!!! ayyy lol— Josh Gershon (@JoshGershon) January 28, 2013
The Wildcats were keeping an eye on Wright last summer but he has improved as this season has progressed, said Gershon, who has seen Wright often out of his Southern California base.
"He was always a player who pretty much did everything on the court but he just progressed to where he’s doing things at almost dominant levels at times,” Gershon said. "He's a terrific defender, really plays hard. He rebounds, passes and does a lot of little things."
Gershon also said Wright has always been a strong shooter from midrange.
Sean Miller said on his radio show tonight that he expects to add two more players to the class of 2013, with one of them possibly a transfer. Miller said UA could have four more commits (from the 2014 class) by the fall, noting that he expected the newly allowed official visits by juniors to result in earlier commitments.
Although Rondae Jefferson's Chester High team has lost three games this season, it has still won 64 straight games against Pennsylvania teams.
Colorado has surged after calling a players-only meeting following its rough start in Pac-12 play. The Buffs will host UA on Feb. 14.
Billy Donovan is cautioning the Gators not to crash "into a pole" after receiving their highest ranking, No. 4, since 2007. The Gators also have the No. 1 Sagarin rating, a fact that can't hurt Arizona after it beat Florida on Dec. 15.
Josh Pastner has won 10 straight games at Memphis.
