Must be September. While it's relatively quiet over at McKale Center, Sean Miller and his staff are jetting between coasts during the open recruiting period...

Miller visited Aaron Gordon on Monday in San Jose, Calif., then went to SoCal to visit two high priorities for 2014 -- guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright and forward Stanley Johnson.

Miller is also scheduled to visit Rondae Jefferson in Pennsylvania later this week.

Jackson-Cartwright told Scout (subscription only) that he's still dealing with an injury and could also miss some time this season. He was out during the July evaluation period with an ankle issue.

Johnson tweeted that he had a "great talk" with Miller and his staff. But he also told a Kentucky-focused site (subscription only) that he could see himself in Kentucky's system after meeting with John Calipari.

--

Miller took a break to tweet out the Wildcats' official team photo, though it is tough to see fully.

--

Michael Peck, who coached Nick Johnson and Brandon Ashley at Nevada's Findlay Prep, will take over the Idaho Stampede of the D-League. Peck was a candidate to join the UA coaching staff after Archie Miller left in 2011.

Associate coach Todd Simon will take over as head coach at Findlay.

--

Former UA recruiting target Marcus Lee is down to Kentucky, Louisville and Cal.

--

Former Oregon State walk-on Kevin McShane signed a pro contract to play in Denmark.

--

KO is confident USC can still do well without Mo Jones.

--

Texas Tech's leading scorer doesn't want to play for Billy Gillispie anymore.

--

Some of you guys discussed Gordon's future on the previous discussion thread (and no, Bob, I don't think UA is leading for him).

Corey P asked about contact between coaches and a player who has signed an LOI. It's allowed except in dead periods and in fact, unlimited contact outside of dead periods via text and phone is allowed to anyone past their sophomore years in high school after the NCAA loosened up the rule this summer.

UA coaches, including conditioning chief Chris Rounds, do keep in touch and suggest things, though they realize they may not get players' full attention until they arrive the summer before their freshman season.

 --

And anyone following the DirecTV-Pac-12 situation in advance of basketball season might want to check out Jon Wilner's theory ... that USC's football success against Stanford could affect the talks
