Arizona's Mark Lyons on Monday became the first Wildcat player to win the Pac-12 Player of the Week this season.

Lyons was given the honor this evening after he had 24 points, three rebounds, three assists with four turnovers and three steals in the Wildcats' 71-54 win at ASU on Saturday.

Lyons shot 53.3 percent from the field and hit all six free throws he took.

The Wildcats did not have a player win the award the first 10 times it was awarded by the conference, prompting UA coach Sean Miller to ask a Pac-12 official why that was the case during a Jan. 8 media teleconference call.

Aaron Gordon was impressive today at the Hoophall Classic with 27 points and 12 rebounds, though his team was blown out. Gordon was greeted by a chorus of fans cheering "come to Arizona!"
