After his Golden Eagles lost at New Mexico State on Saturday, coach Donnie Tyndall issued a warning.
"I told our guys if we thought New Mexico State was big and physical, they look like a JV team compared to Arizona," Tyndall said. "If we don't play with more grit and physicality, match them in toughness, it could get ugly quick.
"We've got to do a good job blocking out and not give up second shots."
Tyndall indicated concern over the Golden Eagles' three-point shooting, which is just 30.9 percent for the season, but said forward Jonathan Mills has been the team's best player so far.
"He's probably 6-4, a tough, hard-nosed kid who played a lot of minutes last year," Tyndall said.
Mills is listed at 6-6. Southern Miss has no starters listed taller than he is.
