Updated to note that forward Craig Victor has signed his letter-of-intent, making him officially the first member of the Arizona Wildcats' 2014 recruiting class.
Guard Kadeem Allen is scheduled to sign Friday, and guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright says he will do so on Saturday.
Stanley Johnson entered the fall thinking he would enjoy all his recruiting visits, then make an announcement in January.
But something changed all that. Most likely, that the Mater Dei (Calif.) wing is a Top 10 player in the class of 2014.
"He's had enough," Mater Dei coach Gary McKnight said today. "He just wants to get it over with. It went from being a lot fun to being too much, and he’s such a high profile kid. It was a lot of stress on him."
Johnson will choose between UA, Kentucky and USC. Arizona is considered the leader for him, but McKnight is staying out of the prediction business on this one.
"I can’t read him," McKnight said. "I’m not even sure right now if he knows. But I know he wants to get it over with and he will on Friday."
Johnson will make his announcement on an ESPNU show that begins Friday at 2 p.m., said McKnight, who said last summer that Johnson is the best player he's ever coached.
Even without Johnson and Justise Winslow possibly adding to its class, UA has what Scout calls the best 2014 recruiting class in the Pac-12.
Angelo Chol won't be able to play Thursday but the SDSU forward will be rooting against his old team.
Former UA commit Eric Cooper, Jr. made it official for Nevada. Cooper decommitted from UA last spring just as his former high school teammate, Grant Jerrett, opted to turn pro.
