Could Xavier's Lyons be answer for Wildcats?

CBSSports.com reported that Xavier guard Mark Lyons will transfer and become eligible immediately if he finishes his degree this spring.

Since Lyons will have only one year left to play, it's a natural to wonder if he might want to spend that year with the coach who recruited him -- former Xavier coach Sean Miller.

However, Lyons told the Cincinnati Enquirer he was "surprised by the report."

Lyons, a 6-foot-1, 188-pound combo guard, averaged 15.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season for the Musketeers, but was suspended for two games for his role in the Xavier-Cincinnati brawl and benched late in the season, CBSSports said.

After the Xavier-Cincinnati brawl, Miller said of the Musketeers that he was "proud of those guys" and caught some national heat.

Arizona has one remaining scholarship for the 2012 class and has a one-year hole at point guard, with the departure of Josiah Turner and the fact that ex-Duquesne transfer T.J. McConnell won't be eligible until the 2013-14 season.

Players who graduate and have eligibility remaining can play immediately if they choose to enroll in a graduate program at another school that is not offered at the player's former school.
