After taking a visit to Arizona last week, Elliott Pitts decided he had seen all he needed to.

The Northern California combo guard committed to Arizona, forgoing potential future visits to places such as Georgetown, Washington and California.

"I knew for a fact that it was a perfect fit," Pitts said. "I just felt really comfortable there with the coaching staff and coach Miller.  There was nothing really wrong with the other schools recruiting me; I just felt like it was the perfect fit."

Pitts had a chance to watch a full practice under Miller during his visit, since the Wildcats were allowed 10 full practices in advance of their Bahamas trip.

That proved to be a clincher.

"Just by watching their practice I can tell they like each other and that’s the type of environment I wanted to be a part of. I can tell coach Miller loves his players and that was great to see really. And I think seeing the offense that they run and some of the plays, I can fit in."

Pitts said he has been recruited by Arizona since the spring, with assistant coach Joe Pasternack leading on him and Miller watching several of his Las Vegas games in person even though he was playing in a lower-profile division with his high school teammates at De La Salle of Concord, Calif.

Robert Jones, Pitts' coach with the travel-ball Bay Area Hoosiers, said both Miller and Pasternack had a strong relationship with Pitts that made a clear difference.

"He had had some great talks on the phone with coach Miller and he really understood" Arizona's system, Jones said. "He really has a good idea of how they played and knows how it could transform the way he plays.

"I think he could be an extension of coach Miller -- he has a great basketball IQ and is super unselfish. He's a rarity now where he's definitely about the program and winning and trying to do the right thing."

Pitts is the Wildcats' first commitment for the class of 2013. Arizona had guard Eric Cooper in that class but Cooper has reclassified to 2014.
