The Tucson Padres are taking the first of only seven off-days this season today, not counting their four-day all-star break.

They'll probably need the rest.

The Padres are just 5-15 after losing 16-6 to Salt Lake on Tuesday at Kino Stadium, and they'll have to face recently demoted Oakland A's pitcher Graham Godfrey on Thursday in Sacramento.

Godfrey, the A's No. 4 starter, was demoted Saturday after going 0-3 with a 5.06 ERA for Oakland. Veteran righty Jeff Suppan is scheduled to make his second appearance for Tucson.

The River Cats moved to 14-6 after beating Reno 12-10 on Wednesday. The Reno Gazette-Journal had this game story while the Sacramento Bee had a short update.

We had a feature on Padres infielder Amadeo Zazueta, a part-time Tucson resident from Sinaloa.
