After a day in which league and school officials jumped on social media to encourage fans to complain to DirecTV about the failure to reach a distribution agreement, Pac-12 Networks tonight sent an open letter to fans.

The letter — which you can read here — advises fans how to switch from DirecTV to cable subscribers in time for the start of football season Thursday.

It was the latest move in the negotiations, which were believed to be near completion last week and now have devolved into public relations nitpicking.

Pac-12 Networks has yet to reach distribution deals with DirecTV DISH Network, AT&T, Verizon or Charter Cable.
