Salpointe Catholic hurdler and jumper Alyssa Thompson has committed to Wake Forest where she plans on doing the heptathlon and horizontal jumps.

Thompson helped the Lancers win their first team track and field state title last season. She won the triple jump, was second in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump and third in the 300 hurdles, scoring 32 of Salpointe’s 85 points which won the Division II championship.

Last summer, with her club team, Thompson finished second in the heptathlon and seventh in the triple jump at the National Junior Olympics in Baltimore, Md.

Thompson was also recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Northern Arizona, University of Colorado-Boulder, Dartmouth and Boise State.
