Rita Bermudez, who won a Division II state championship last year as a junior for Canyon del Oro, has signed with Idaho to play her college tennis.

Bermudez is the 71st ranked recruit in the country according to tennisrecruiting.net and the 17th best in the southwest.

"We're extremely excited that Rita has chosen to become a Vandal," coach Dan Pollock said in a release. "She is an excellent player with a record of top quality results against highly ranked opponents that speak for themselves."

She's the third child in her family to play Division I tennis. Her older brother Dominic plays at NAU and her other brother Carlos, plays at Arizona.

Idaho only has five players returning next year and needed freshmen who could make an impact right away. Bermudez can do that.
