TEMPE- Senior Kayla Bonstrom hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to lift Canyon del Oro to an 11-9 win Monday night over Peoria Sunrise Mountain in the Division II state championship game at Farrington Stadium.
The Dorados headed to the seventh inning leading 9-4, but saw Sunrise Mountain score five runs in the frame to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
Bonstrom answered right back with her one-out blast to give CDO the lead for good.
It's the school's fifth state championship in the last six years.
