Flowing Wells is headed to the state semifinals for the first time since 2008, the same year the Caballeros won the 4A-I state title.
Sixth-seeded Flowing Wells beat No. 14 Phoenix South Mountain 49-37 in the Division II state quarterfinals this afternoon at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale.
Senior Lyndsay Leikem led Flowing Wells with 26 points while junior Shalise Fernander added 15.
The Caballeros (28-4) will face either No. 10 Gilbert Campo Verde or No. 3 Chandler Seton Catholic at 1:45 p.m. in Thursday's state semifinals at Jobing.com Arena.
