Ironwood Ridge quarterback Tyler Williams has committed to Air Force and wil sign his letter of intent Wednesday morning according to Nighthawks coach Matt Johnson.

Williams, the 2012 Arizona Daily Star offensive player of the year, was on an official visit this past weekend and verbally committed Sunday morning before heading back to Tucson.

He was also going to visit Army this coming weekend but won't have to any more.

"You can tell if something feels right," Williams said. "I just fell in love with the campus, the coaching staff and could see myself being in that environment."

In addition to Army, Williams also had offers from Colorado and San Diego State but was between Army and Air Force as of late last week.

"I'm glad to have the whole thing done with," he said.

Williams began his visit at Air Force on Thursday night and said "the weekend just kept getting better and better."

He sat in the student section Saturday night to see Air Force's basketball team upset San Diego State, 70-67, which was No. 22 at the time.

"We rushed the court and it was a lot of fun," Williams said.

As a senior, Williams rushed for 1,354 yards and passed for another 1,143 to lead the Nighthawks to the Division II state title and a 13-1 mark.
