A pair of former college head coaches will guide teams in the first Casino del Sol College All-Star Game, held Jan. 16 at Kino Stadium.
Former Arkansas and Mississippi coach Houston Nutt will coach the Stars, while ex-Fresno State coach Pat Hill will lead the Stripes. The game, formerly known as the Eastham Energy All-Star Game, the Blue-Gray Football Classic and the Inta Juice North-South Game, is Tucson's first. Last year's contest was held in Tempe.
Nutt, who was dismissed as the Rebels' coach last month, said that he's "very excited to be a part of the Casino del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson, and looking forward to seeing Pat Hill on the other side."
Hill, a onetime assistant with the Arizona Wildcats, was fired by Fresno State Sunday after 15 seasons as coach. He went 112-80 and coached 11 bowl games for the Bulldogs.
The all-star game will cap a week of practices at Kino Stadium. Tickets for Tucson's game range from $8-$24.
