T.J. Johnson, a three-star player from Florida, verbally committed to coach Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcats today.

Johnson, rated as the 85th best running back in the country by Scout Recruiting Services, picked Arizona over West Virginia and South Florida.

"I liked the team, the coaches, the school, the offense they run, everything," Johnson said. "Coach Rodriguez was a cool dude and he takes football very seriously."

Johnson was being recruited on offense and defense, but committed to Rodriguez and the Wildcats as an offensive player. He said he plays slot receiver and running back.

He had 1,133 yards of total offense and 11 touchdowns as a senior for Island Coast High School in Cape Coral, Fla.

Players can sign national letters of intent starting Feb. 6.
