The Arizona Wildcats have lost their third assistant coach in the past three weeks.

Tony Gibson, who served as Rich Rodriguez's assistant head coach and Arizona's safeties and defensive special teams coach, has left the program. The UA announced the move this morning with a release.

Gibson is likely headed to West Virginia for a second coaching stint. There are multiple reports out of West Virginia that he will coach cornerbacks for the Mountaineers.

He coached there from 2001-2007, serving as the defensive backs coach and added the title of recruiting coordinator in his final season.

Gibson is the third assistant coach to take a job elsewhere this offseason.

Tight ends coach Spencer Leftwich left the Wildcats program for UTEP in December and offensive line coach Robert Anae took the offensive coordinator position at BYU last week.

Gibson, though, is the first coach to leave this offseason with deep Rodriguez ties.

Gibson was an assistant under Rodriguez at Glenville (W.Va.) State in 1996, after playing for him there. The two also coached together at West Virginia and Michigan for a total of 10 seasons.
