UA running back Ka’Deem Carey has been named to the Pac-12’s all-conference team, released today. Carey is one of two running backs on the first team: Oregon’s Kenjon Barner is the other.
Carey is the first UA running back to receive first-team all-conference honors since Clarence Farmer in 2001.
No other Arizona Wildcats were on the first team, which consists of 22 players and four specialists. Quarterback Matt Scott and wide receiver Austin Hill were both second-team selections. Wide receiver Dan Buckner, center Kyle Quinn, linebacker Jake Fischer and safety Jared Tevis all earned honorable mentions.
Stanford's David Shaw won Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
Carey, a sophomore, leads the nation with 1,757 rushing yards and has rushed for 20 scores, numbers that rank third nationally. He broke the UA's single-season rushing mark in Friday's Territorial Cup loss to Arizona State. With two rushing touchdowns in the Wildcats' yet-to-be-announced bowl game, Carey will be the program's single-season rushing touchdowns leader.
He is the first Wildcat to register back-to-back 200-plus yard games. He has topped 100 yards rushing nine times this season.
