After two months of consideration, guard Nic Wise has decided to return to Arizona.
Wise, a junior guard from Houston, had considered transferring for his final two years of eligibility. According to Houston-area basketball analyst Jim Hicks, Wise looked at Houston, Rice and Texas, among others.
"This is where I want to be," Wise said in a statement. "I trust Coach Olson, and he wants me to be a leader — the captain — next season, and that's what I'm going to do."
Wise, a 5-foot-9-inch, 178-pound guard, averaged 9.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 29.4 minutes per game last season.
"We're happy to have Nic back," Arizona coach Lute Olson said in a statement.
Wise's decision came the day after 2009 point guard Abdul Gaddy decommitted from the Wildcats.
Wise's father, Greg, has said Nic wanted to make sure he did not have the same experience he did last season, when Olson took a season-long leave of absence.
