SALT LAKE CITY — The Arizona Wildcats' path to the Sweet 16 grew more unexpected — but probably more likely — when Harvard defeated No. 3 seed New Mexico, 68-62, in the nightcap at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Crimson (20-9) led by eight with 2:17 to play, and hung on against the heavily favored Lobos (29-6). UNM shot only 37.5 percent from the field on the game, and made 3-of-14 three-point attempts.

The Ivy League champion had four of its five starters score in double-digits, led by Wesley Saunders, who had 18 points and five rebounds.

The UA will play Harvard on Saturday at 3:10 p.m. for a Sweet 16 berth.
