Less than five months after raving about then-Duquesne point guard T.J. McConnell, Arizona Wildcats coach Sean Miller may have a chance to recruit him.

McConnell, the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Year in 2010-11 as a freshman, announced he was seeking a transfer to what his father said would ideally be a higher-profile program.

"He committed early (during his sophomore year of high school), and he is having a good career," McConnell's father, Tim, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "And he said to me he would really like to play at a bigger program and would like a bigger challenge."

Miller, who has at least one opening to fill this spring, knows the McConnell family well and raved about T.J. before the Wildcats beat the Dukes 67-59 on Nov. 9 at McKale Center.

"I really appreciate him as a player," Miller said.

McConnell had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Nov. 9 game. He finished this season with an average of 11.4 points and 5.5 assists per game, with better than a 2-to-1 assist-turnover ratio.
