Arizona’s basketball season ended Sunday when the Wildcats were not chosen to play in the 32-team National Invitation Tournament.

The Wildcats have already told the other major-college postseason tournament, the College Basketball Invitational, that they are not interested.

Arizona (16-15) finished the Pac-10 season in fourth place at 10-8, and lost to UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament. They snapped a nation-leading streak of 25 straight appearances in the NCAA tournament.

The only Pac-10 team chosen for the NIT was ASU, which was given a No. 1 seed. The other NIT No. 1 seeds were Illinois, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State.

Memphis, coached by former UA assistant coach Josh Pastner, was given a No. 3 seed and will face St. Johns.
