The Arizona Wildcats have a new slump to contend with, and USC's streak of futility is gone.
Cassie Harberts scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Trojans defeated the UA 74-62 Friday night in McKale Center.
USC (9-19 overall, 6-11 Pac-12) snapped an eight-game losing streak. The Wildcats (12-16, 4-13) have dropped three games in a row, including a pair to rival Arizona State last week, and 11 of their last 12.
"We have found a way to lose a game in every way possible we can," UA coach Niya Butts said. "That's frustrating."
The Trojans out-rebounded the Wildcats 52-32, pulled down 30 offensive boards and scored 20 second-choice points.
Butts said a lack of mental focus and toughness were factors in Friday's loss.
"If I can pinpoint outside of saying, 'We're not being very tough, we're not being very physical and we're not making the plays, we're a fraction late to the loose balls," she said. "... If I knew what that was, we wouldn't do it."
UA senior guard Davellyn Whyte, playing in her second-to-last home game, scored 13 points and dished nine assists. Forward Erica Barnes added 15 points.
UA will end its regular season Sunday with a 1 p.m. game against visiting UCLA.
