Kino Stadium will turn into San Diego East tonight, as two key cogs in the parent San Diego Padres will play key roles for the Triple-A team.
Tim Stauffer, who was slated to start Opening Day for San Diego before feeling tightness in his right elbow, will make his first Triple-A rehab start tonight. Wearing No. 17, he's expected to throw about 80 pitches against the Sacramento RiverCats.
(You can read my feature about him in today's Daily Star here).
All-Star Carlos Quentin, who may soon be batting fourth in San Diego, will hit cleanup and DH for Tucson tonight. Quentin played two games of a rehab assignment before getting a regular day off Thursday.
