• Highlight: Tucson third baseman Jesus Merchan ripped a ball that looked to be headed into the right-center field gap, but Salt Lake second baseman Matt Long made an acrobatic leaping catch to rob Merchan of a hit.
• Big number: 2: Two big innings killed Tucson on Saturday. Salt Lake scored nine of its runs in the first and fifth innings, and the Padres were in a 5-0 hole before they had a chance to bat. Three of Salt Lake's first-inning runs came with two outs. Tucson made a comeback effort - the Padres scored a pair of runs in both the first and second innings - but left the tying run on third base in the second.
