• Highlight: Salt Lake scored seven runs in the first inning, blasting Padres starter Matt Palmer out of the game before he recorded his second out. Palmer gave up five singles and three walks before he was replaced after nine batters. The Padres scored five runs in the second inning but never recovered from the first and lost their third straight game to end a four-game homestand. They begin a four-game road swing at Sacramento on Thursday and are expected to get catcher Yasmani Grandal (hamstring) and infielder Beamer Weems (hamstring) off the disabled list.

• Big number: 4.12 - The jump in Palmer's ERA, from 3.68 to 7.80, after he was charged with seven earned runs in one-third of an inning Tuesday.
