Sawyer Carroll's three-run homer capped a nine-run fifth inning for Tucson on Tuesday night as the Padres won at Salt Lake 9-6.
Tucson sent 13 to the plate in the fifth, tying its season high for runs in an inning. Daniel Robertson's RBI single and Andy Parrino's bases-loaded hit by pitch tied it at 2. Jedd Gyorko put Tucson ahead with a sacrifice fly, and Matt Clark followed with a two-run single. Vince Belnome singled in Clark to make it 6-2 before Carroll's blast.
Padres left fielder Jonathan Roof threw out ex-UA Wildcat Trevor Crowe at home in the seventh, and Ross Ohlendorf earned his first win with Tucson, pitching six innings in relief.
