At Rincon, the Lancers (9-1) exploded for 28 points in the second quarter to rout the Rangers (5-4).

Salpointe led 7-0 after one quarter but scored three TDs in a row, and then after an interception, scored a fourth with 29.5 seconds to go.

• Highlight reel: Salpointe's Cameron Denson caught a 25-yard pass for the first touchdown in traffic.

• Player of the game: Johnny Peña rushed for 107 yards on 16 carries and scored three TDs in the second quarter.

• By the numbers: 1. One player other than quarterback Andrew Cable who rushed for the Rangers, Kevionte Alexander, who rushed for 113 yards.

• He said it: "He's been running so much, and we're just trying to rest him." - Salpointe coach Dennis Bene on why Denson left the game.
