The Arizona baseball team trailed host Long Beach State 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday, with the game in a rain delay at the Star's press time.
Defending national champ UA has won 14 consecutive games, dating to last season. The Wildcats are 3-0 this year.
LBSU took a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning, but the Cats fought back with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Brandon Dixon was 3 for 4 for UA with an RBI and a stolen base, and Scott Kingery was 2 for 4.
UA starting pitcher Nick Cunningham allowed four earned runs on seven hits in four innings.
The teams are scheduled to wrap up their two-game series with a game at 4:30 p.m. today.
