Arizona Wildcats outfielder Robert Refsnyder signed with the New York Yankees today, ending his college eligibility after three seasons.

Refsnyder’s deal is worth $205,900, Baseball America’s Jim Callis reported. The Yankees took Refsnyder with their fifth-round pick in last month’s amateur draft. He is the fourth UA draftee to sign in recent weeks: shortstop Alex Mejia (4th round, Cardinals), third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (8th round, Reds) and outfielder Joey Rickard (ninth round, Rays) are the others.

Ace Kurt Heyer, a sixth-round pick of the Cardinals, is expected to sign soon. Designated hitter Bobby Brown has also signed a free-agent contract with the Royals.

Refsynder hit .364 as a junior with a team-high eight home runs and 64 RBIs; he was named College World Series MVP last week as the Wildcats took home their first national championship since 1986.

The Yankees drafted Refsnyder with hopes of converting him into a second baseman. The Laguna Hills, Calif., native played the position sparingly as a UA freshman.
