San Francisco jumped out to an early lead at Hi Corbett Field on Sunday and then pulled away for a 9-2 victory to avoid a sweep by 10th-ranked Arizona.
The Dons (5-7) scored a run in the first inning off UA starter Stephen Manthei who then loaded the bases before he was relieved by Cody Moffett. The lefthander retired the three batters he faced but gave up a run on a groundout to give the Dons a 2-0 edge.
San Francisco left-hander Christian Cecilio (1-0) turned in a stellar performance and kept the Wildcats (10-3) hitless until the fifth inning. Cecilio struck out four, walked one and gave up two hits and an earned run in 5 2/3 innings.
Dons' reliever Haden Hinkle earned his first save by scattering five hits over the final 3 1/3 innings.
Arizona used nine pitchers who gave up a combined nine hits and six walks. Moffett had the best performance by the Wildcat pitching staff with four strikeouts and a walk over four innings before being pulled for Augey Bill.
