The world's top two barrel racers went head to head Tuesday. Current points leader Brittany Pozzi-Pharr placed second with a run of 17.49 seconds, and last year's world champion, Mary Burger, did not place. They will, however, be at it again today. Here's a look at how the two match up:

Q. What's the secret to success in barrel racing?

A. Have a good horse. You've got to have a good horse, bottom line.

Q. The world champion is a grandmother. Do you plan to be racing as a grandma?

A. Oh yes. I love the rodeo. I love the rodeo, and I love the competition, and it's how I make a living.

Q. Because she's so much older than you, do you ever ask her for advice?

A. I've actually been out on the road longer than Mary has.

Q. People must make a big deal that you're a grandma?

A. A lot of people blow up that I am 58. I suppose a lot of spectators are probably more my age, so I get a lot of encouragement.

Q. You went pro in 1984 but did not do a full season until last year. Why did you take the plunge?

A. My husband always wanted me to do the rodeo deal for a couple of years. I was a barrelhorse trainer forever. Since probably 1972, I trained a lot of young horses and as of last year early I just sold all of my horses I had at home there and just decided to rodeo a few years.

Q. Not to belabor the point, but you're so much older than your competitors. Isn't that weird?

A. I just run each barrel race one at a time and just do the best that I can. I don't worry about anyone that's younger or older.
