On the 52 men who wrote Arizona's Constitution, 41 Democrats and 11 Republicans: "The delegates from one county were composed of a machinist, a plumber, a locomotive engineer, two miners, three lawyers, a butcher and a railroad switchman who had defeated in the election one of the greatest mining operators in Arizona. The pioneers outnumbered the newcomers, and labor was manifestly in the saddle."
