Several civil service examinations will be held next month. One of the examinations, which will be held on December 4, will be that of teacher of housekeeping for services at the following Indian schools: Moqui, Navajo, Pima, Phoenix, Rice, Zuni, San Carlos and White Earth in Arizona, Fort Totten, N.D., Hoopa Valley, Calif., and Gicarilli, N.M. When this examination is taken, the local secretary of the service anticipates that the examination will have the appearance of a sewing bee, as all applicants must appear for examination bringing with them scissors, needles, thimble, a piece of muslin 8x12, and a spool of number 30 thread. This position pays $72 per month.

Other examinations to be held are for the position of assistant chemist in radioactivity for work in the bureau of mines at Washington or Denver, paying from $1,800 to $2,150, which will be held on December 2.

December 4 there will be an examination in inorganic chemistry to fill vacancies in the bureau of insular affairs, in the Philippine service, at a salary from $1,400 to $2,000. On the same date, there will also be one for the position of herdsman in the bureau of animal industry to be located at Beltsville, Maryland. The next examination will occur December 16 and will be for the position of soil physicist, in the bureau of soils, in the agricultural department.

Co., Jack Furrier Tire & Auto Care, Walgreens and Carondelet Health Network are sponsors of the Star's Arizona Centennial project.
